Devon Hollahan // Desaparecido - Missing!!

I read this and a plea to post it. I hope in some small way, this may help bring a happy ending. Please, share this post, pass this around!

DEVON HOLLAHAN - Can you Help

Yesterday at 9:16pm

My son, Devon Hollahan, disappeared in Frankfurt, Germany on Saturday,
November 21st at approximately 3AM, local time. Devon and his friend, Josh
Friedman, had taken a train from Prague, where they both live and work, on
Friday, the 20th to attend a concert in Frankfurt and to stay for the
remainder of the weekend. Both Josh and Devon had purchased round-trip
train tickets.

According to Josh, they had enjoyed the concert, attended the "after party",
and had taken a cab to central Frankfurt to look for their hostel. They had
been drinking. Beer, mostly and, according to Josh, they were "tipsy", but
not inebriated. After looking for several minutes, Josh stepped away from
Devon to ask a couple of bystanders for directions. When he turned around,
Devon was nowhere to be seen. After attempting to text and phone Devon
numerous times, Josh gave up and went to the hostel. The following morning,
he checked with the hostel to see if Devon had checked in on his own and
found out he had not. He also checked a couple of other nearby hostels to
no avail. At some point Saturday, Josh contacted the Frankfurt police and
the US Consulate to file a missing person report. He waited for Devon at
the train station at the appointed departure time, but Devon never showed
up.

Josh called me from Prague at around 3PM MST to give me the news.

We have German-speaking friends who called the Frankfurt Police to consider
options, but the police weren't terribly receptive. At 12:30 AM, Monday
morning, I called the US Consulate and spoke to Franz Seitz who was already
familiar with the case. We spoke for 30 minutes. Mr. Seitz was very
receptive and helpful. We discussed Devon's credit card activity, which
wasn't (and still isn't) unusual. He had made 2 stops at ATMs in addition
to purchasing train tickets in Prague - nothing since. Early this morning,
I received an email from Mr. Seitz indicating the had checked ambulance
services, hospitals and jails with no results. I believe the consulate has
spoken to Mr. Friedman at least once and maybe twice.

I am obviously concerned for my son. Always an independent soul, he is also
responsible and diligent. This type of behavior is totally out of
character.

Devon Hollahan is 22 years old, 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 150
pounds. When last seen, Devon was wearing a green, plaid shirt, jeans, a
black work jacket (sport coat?) and a tan cap. He was last seen in the
vicinity of the Taunusalange metro station in central Frankfurt. Pictures
are attached.

There are good people in Michigan!

WOW!! It's a Sunday evening and our doorbell rings at 8:30pm... we aren't expecting anyone... I answer the door to see two teenagers holding a wallet. They open it up and ask if this the right house as it wouldn't come up on their GP device and it isn't listed on mapquest!
Yup, it was the correct house as it was my husband's wallet that he left at the park today, while with our youngest, her friend and our dog. How cool is that? Sure wish I had some money to give them as a reward for doing the right thing! What was I thinking? I had just baked a pie and I should have asked them in for a slice as a thank you. There are still good people in this world! Thank you Thomas and Kaylynn!

Halloween Coffins!

I had so much fun making these coffins! I used Woodgrain background with My Favorite Things as the coffin handles and made a couple versions of the casket lid using Batty for You and Black & White DSP from the Holiday Mini! They turned out great. I really lucked out when I found these skeleton gummies at the dollar store, too! I loaded the caskets/coffins with gummy worms, eyeballs, and/or the gummy skeletons and passed them out to some fun people! I know they liked them and it was really fun sharing a cool project like this!

Shake, Shake, Shimmer Paint!

Love the Shimmer Paint !!

Well, my least favorite thing to do is to HAVE TO make a sympathy card. However,Stampin' Up has a great many stamp sets and tools to do a wonderful job. I started out with a simple card but knew it wasn't quite enough. I used Strength and Refuge stamp set with Mellow Moss, Very Vanilla & Always Artichoke cardstocks along with matching ink pads with Certainly Celery ink, stamped off, for the cross!!! Here's my first card that needed more:






I added some coordinating ribbon (Mellow Moss taffeta) and also tried a new technique with the Shimmer Paint!! I added 12 drops of Champagne Shimmer Paint to an extra spray mist bottle that I poured 3/4 full of rubbing alcohol. I gave it a good shake then sprayed it all over the background cardstock and VOILA' it's a beautiful card!!


Here's the finished product! It's so much nicer than the simple card I started with! What do you think?

Cincinnati Regional with Stampin' Up!

I recently attended Stampin' Up!'s regional seminar in Cincinnati and it was the best regional seminar yet! I was thrilled to see Shelli there again, in person! The demonstrations, discussions and WOWs were motivating! I had a blast with two of my dear SU friends who are always keeping me laughing! I also got to meet a few new demonstrators and I enjoyed that, too!

Diva night is a casual, productive as well as informative meeting with my dear family of SU demonstrators. We made this card at Diva night using Wings of Friendship (Level 2 hostess set). We popped up the bird and flowers as well as the Teeny Tiny Wishes label. Isn't it beautiful?

This is Coach Heather, whose coaching job has changed just a little since she had her first baby in May, this year! She has created a beautiful scrapbook of her precious baby and it is wonderful!

I am always touched and excited to see the creative projects that my friends share with me. I know they feel great about making these wonderful treasures and I do, too!

Our new year begins in August and Stamp Camp (hostess club) is usually held on the first Tuesday of each month, however if you would like to join us for July Stamp Camp this Thursday, July 9th, you are welcome as long as you RSVP to me by Tuesday evening (July 7th)!! Simply send me an email or phone me to let me know you are coming so that I'll have enough supplies prepared.

Jumble Alphabet In Color!

This is my own creation! I actually saw a card in a magazine and thought to myself, I can re-create this with my own items. I used Jumble Alphabet, Sincere Salutations with a couple of the new In Colors! What fun! Hope you like it!

I don't get to "play" with these great demonstrators very often, but when I do, it's always fun! Tonight we had a production line going to make a couple sample cards using the new stamp sets in the IBC coming out July 1st. Ronnie was there and I haven't seen her in a long time! She's so talented (as with each of the ladies this evening)! Silvia is heading back to Germany in July, so this was a celebration of "so longs" for her. Shhhhh! I made these for a few of my customers who will be receiving the Stampin' Up! new Idea Book & Catalog being released on July 1st for FREE! They are each part of my hostess club that meets once a month for a year. We have a blast making new and exciting projects together with Stampin' Up items! These are wonderful ladies who are dear friends of mine, as well! I'm so blessed.

These are the new In Colors for 2009 - 2010. Aren't they sweet? I used a new stamp set, the new In Colors and also the ribbon that will be coming out on July 1st! I'll be sharing more as I make up samples! I'm having a lot of fun with the new items and also sad to see some of my favorites moving out to make room for more new! Graduation Time!

I always like to make a "personalized" graduation card. We are attending lots of graduation parties this month and next and here's one for Shrine High School for their colors.
